Prosecutors played two AI-generated love songs recovered from Caleb Flynn’s iPhone during his Ohio murder trial, according to reporting on court testimony.
The reporting says text messages read in court described a workflow in which Flynn recorded a piano song and used ElevenLabs to select an AI voice. A forensic investigator also testified about a deleted app identified as “AI music song generator.”
Flynn has pleaded not guilty. The songs are evidence in an ongoing criminal case, not evidence of wrongdoing by AI music users generally.
Why it matters: AI-generated music files, prompts, messages, app activity and metadata can become part of a digital evidence trail. Creators should treat their accounts and project files as ordinary digital records, subject to the same privacy and legal considerations as other online material.
This case is about alleged criminal conduct, not the legality of creating AI music.
