A newly updated AI music licensing tracker shows that opt-in agreements have become the music industry’s primary model for allowing catalogs to participate in AI training, generation, covers and remixes.
The tracker covers agreements involving Suno, Udio, Spotify, ElevenLabs, KLAY, Warner Music, Universal Music Group, Merlin and Kobalt. Public payment details remain limited, and no universal AI royalty rate exists.
Why it matters: Independent musicians will generally participate through their labels, publishers, distributors or rights organizations. Creators should verify whether participation is optional and how consent, attribution, voice rights, composition rights and royalties are handled before opting in.
