Researchers at the seventh Conference on AI Music Creativity in Berlin are focusing on authorship, musicianship and creative control—not merely on how many songs a model can generate.
The conference program spans small-data model crafting, responsive performance systems, computational creativity and listener research. One promising direction builds AI around an artist’s own limited dataset, potentially giving musicians more control than a large, general-purpose cloud generator.
The practical question for creators is shifting from “Can AI make this?” to “Which creative decisions remain mine?” Workflows that preserve meaningful human selection, editing, performance and direction may matter artistically and when documenting human authorship.
