A new practical guide warns that no listening clue or consumer detector can conclusively prove that a song or voice clip was generated by AI.

The recommended process starts with provenance. Find the original file, check who published it, look for an AI disclosure, compare the clip with official artist channels and seek credible independent reporting before making a public claim.

Changing vocal identity, unnatural breaths, uneven pronunciation and incoherent transitions can justify closer review, but they are not proof. Human recordings can sound unusual, while synthetic audio can sound convincing.

Creators and music platforms should also distinguish between provenance tools and acoustic detectors. A positive supported content credential can strengthen an origin assessment, but a missing signal does not prove that a recording is human-made.
