Queen guitarist Brian May criticized AI after Meta AI produced an inaccurate recreation of the band’s 1980 album cover for The Game.
May said he was disappointed with the result and questioned whether society needs AI at all. He has previously warned that AI could make it increasingly difficult for listeners to distinguish human-created music from machine-generated work.
Why it matters: Resistance to AI is still strong among established musicians. AI music creators should emphasize their human contributions, creative decisions and personal stories instead of marketing songs solely around the technology used to produce them.
