Stability AI has raised $76 million in a Series B funding round backed by all three major music companies: Sony Music Group, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group.
Electronic Arts, AMD Ventures and Pacific Alliance Ventures also participated. Stability AI says its total funding under its current leadership has reached $232 million.
The investment follows the release of Stable Audio 3.0, which can generate or transform music lasting up to six minutes. Stability AI says the model was trained using fully licensed AudioSparx material and honoring applicable opt-out requests.
Stable Audio 3.0 is available through a web interface, API and DAW plugin. That workflow positions it as a production tool musicians can integrate into existing sessions instead of using only as a standalone artificial intelligence music creator.
Why it matters: The record labels are not simply licensing AI platforms. They are becoming investors in the companies building AI music creation tools.
The investment also gives Stability AI a strategic distinction from AI music generators still defending their training practices in court. However, company statements about licensing and commercial safety do not replace a creator’s responsibility to review subscription terms, output rights and distributor requirements.
