Warner Music Group expects agreements with Suno, Udio, Stability AI and KLAY to contribute materially to subscription-streaming growth during its 2027 fiscal year, which begins October 1, 2026.
CEO Robert Kyncl told investors that Suno remains scheduled to move to a licensed music-generation model later this year. That model had not launched when Warner made the statement.
Warner also says it is expanding agreements that require fully AI-generated music to be identified and excluded from the traditional pro-rata royalty pool.
Why it matters: Major labels are shifting from fighting every AI music platform to building licensed products that can generate revenue. Independent artists should examine how these agreements handle consent, attribution, training rights and royalty allocation.
